The most popular Nokia touchscreen XpressMusic device has been turned into the new 5800 Navigation Edition this time and will be available in the market starting 3rd quarter of 2009 (notice the XpressMusic label is still on).

What do you get with this 5800 NE? A lifetime of voice-guided Drive and Walk navigation licenses for your region. Sweet :D

The 5800 Navigation Edition comes with all your guidance software needs as it comes with an in-box car charger (the one that comes with the N96) and Nokia car kit for you to mount the device to your vehicle.Apart from the voice-guided navigation (including valuable local traffic warnings), the latest version of Ovi Maps comes pre-installed, which allows you to search nearby points of interests and check out weather reports etc.

Check out this demo video of the Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition.

The device is expected to be available in the 3rd quarter of this year and the estimated price is about 285 Euro before tax and subsidies. (Should be a little bit more expensive than the 5800 XpressMusic initial pricing)

What do you think of the device? do you like the chrome stylings?

Quite a nice phone, an upgrade of the previous model line. The chrome styling is becoming common in mobile phones these days, think it is an influence from iPhone. Dont really like chrome styling as it will look ugly in the time of wear and tear.

Yay! Another brother to the 5800! Did nokia really make the 5800 sauna? The one that has thermometer. About the looks of this new sibling… I think the real thing will look nicer than the pic. I don’t know why, but to my eyes, the pics make 5800 look really not nice than the solid piece.

This is good. It shows that Nokia is alert about what people want. But their speed in introducing this does not speak well of them. It could have been just integrated at the 5800 launch.

I use Garmin XT and Google Maps.
I doubt that Nokia can beat those softwares.

I’ve tried using Nokia Maps in the past, and it has not been accurate at all.

Nevertheless, this upgraded product is a welcome. Thing is, will the map come preinstalled? Coz A LOT OF PEOPLE donno how to download maps…
