@ArunKarthik, ahahah no you cannot sound more excited than me! I am the most excited one! LOLOLOL kidding… lets go buy together when it launches
ahh this is what i’d like to see..
so far i don’t know if the touch screen on 5800 is sensitive enough like the ones found on the iphone..
if it’s not as sensitive just like the touch diamond, then it’s pointless to have all those nice features..i’d stick to iphone anytime =)

@smashpop, no doubt, iphone may be even more user friendly than tube, i would have even bought the iphone.. but its features are the reason i wont be seen anywhere near it! For me (and millions of others out there), features matter more than flashiness. Anyhow, 5800 FTW!

I’ve always been a Nokia user, but one of the one biggest holes which I’ve noticed in Nokia S60 devices is its VPN implementation.
Even the version 1 iPhone can do basic PPTP connections. Nokia can only do the horrible and expensive to implement IPsec.
Eseries has been out for years, why isn’t Nokia covering PPTP and Open SSL/OpenVPN? It’s just softwares isn’t it?
This means a lot to those like me, who live in countries like UAE, China, & KSA where most of the cool sites/services like Last.FM, SIP, Skype etc, have been blocked for years.
This lack of proper VPN support hurts us financially, Nokia enough of this!
If you can pass on this message to Nokia, please do so!

PPTP VPN exists for Nokia’s phone, but its made not by Nokia. I have tested one on N95.

[Reply]
I agree on Kenny Chun on Price wise. Nokia owns on that part…u r targeting the teenager and young adults.
Other than that nokia has better features on phones compared to iphone…they are focus more to media device.
So for all in one in a phone…nokia is a better choice.

iPhone: flick scrolling
5800: drag scroll bars
iPhone: Standby Shortcuts = 100+
5800: Standby Shortcuts = 6
iPhone: single tap
5800: confusing mix between single & double taps
Interestingly, it’s still 5800 that i’m going to buy!!!

@BoyBawang, about the third thing, you prolly need to double tap only when the menu item is already highlighted, this is to avoid accidental choosing if you wanna scroll the list of options. Though this is my assumption, cant be sure untill i have the device in my hands!

@ArunKarthik, I have played with the emulator. double tap is really inconsistent and has no practical reason. accidental click is not an issue because you can simply cancel it by dragging your finger outside the target like other touchscreens. In windows mobile you simply long-tap an item to select it and display popup options.

You guys dont see whats coming? You guys don’t see what Apple capable of. To me, I dont see any of the mobile phone companies out there that really really focus on their softwares. Comparing Nokia expertise in software development with Apple, is like comparing sand with a rock. The closest challenger to Apple’s iPhone, is RIM but recently Apple has just announced: They are now the third largest mobile phone maker by revenue, after Nokia and Samsung with a share market, slightly more than just 1%!
Read it yourself.

I was wondering since this is first of its kind from Nokia, will the settings be a bit screwed and does it lag or hang like the first Xpress Music 3250 did. I remember mine and my acquantainces’ hanged for a good ten minutes per message sent.
