Hi all, here are some of the things about the N97 camera that I came up with after using it for a few days.
Basically the camera interface is exactly the same as on the 5800XPM but of course, the N97 has a 5megapixels lens with Carl Zeiss optics, which is a BIG difference from the Xpressmusic touchscreen.

Once the camera lens cover is slided out, the camera will be activated and it takes about 4 seconds to bring up the live view image on the screen. I think it’s quite slow because it only took about 2 seconds on my 5800.
Camera quality is good, both on the 3.5inch screen and also on my PC monitor. Video camera interface is similar to the one on the 5800 as well, but this only has 3 quality options. VGA, High quality widescreen (16:9) or High quality (4:3).
Overall I think the camera is very similar as the N96. I will be comparing photos from both devices soon, but for now, here are some shots from my N97 and a video at the end of the post. Click on the images to enlarge.
PS: Photos below are all unedited. I only added the text on them.
Here’s a video recorded at highest quality widescreen.
What do you think of the camera output? Do leave your comments here.

The outdoor samples look good. But the test would be the low-light/indoor shots.. Could you also do some of these, pls?

Very good outdoor!
Indoor and in low light?
Also the video is good except for the zooming that isn’t fluid (as it is for the other Nokia phones, same problem in all models i had…).

First, it was the best camera output from mobile phones I ever seen.
Seems that lens was powerful, can create the sense of depth.
And the video is like those output from digicam video liao

A good phone, hopefully 5800 will get firmware update like N97 firmware with good home screen.

The pictures and video are in Nokia standard. Just the video zooming isn’t as smooth as the S40 does.

damn..the video quality doesn’t seem much difference to N96 or N95 one..
if only the quality is a HD, like the Samsung Omnia HD, then this would be the perfect device!
