In my opinion, apart from the 3 buttons at the bottom of the screen and the bezeled frame, it looks kinda nice. I like it cos it has a 4 rows keyboard instead of 3 rows like the N97.

The Nokia C6 should be of a lower range than the N97 mini as it doesnt have the big hard disk space like the N97.

More news to come! Stay tuned!

Skype and Nokia today jointly announced the release of Skype for Symbian, a Skype client for Nokia smartphones based on the Symbian platform, the world’s most popular smartphone platform. Skype for Symbian will allow Nokia smartphone users worldwide to use Skype on the move, over either a WiFi or mobile data connection (GPRS, EDGE, 3G). It is now downloadable for free from the Ovi Store, Nokia’s one-stop shop for mobile content.

So I have gone to OviStore and downloaded the app. To my surprise, it’s very fast and the interface is very sleek. I expected it to be somewhat sluggish like the previous Java version but was totally overwhelmed.
Upon logging in, your contacts will be displayed with their avatars and statuses.

Skype for Symbian enables Nokia smartphone users to:

· Make free Skype-to-Skype calls to other Skype users anywhere in the world*
· Save money on calls and texts (SMS) to phones abroad.
· Send and receive instant messages to and from individuals or groups
· Share pictures, videos and other files.
· Receive calls to their existing online number
· See when Skype contacts are online and available to call or IM
· Easily import names and numbers from the phone’s address book

Here’s a screenshot of the contact list and by tapping the first button at the bottom of the screen will call the contact straight away. This allows us to do voice calls with Skype users anywhere in the world via their computers or mobile.

Skype for Symbian will run on any Nokia smartphone using Symbian^1, the latest version of the Symbian platform. Skype will soon introduce this client to Symbian mobile devices from other manufacturers, including Sony Ericsson.

The chat window looks clean and easy to the eye. There’s no lag between entering the text and displaying it on the screen, in other words, the interface is very fast.

The initial Skype for Symbian application is compatible with the following Nokia touchscreen models: Nokia N97, Nokia N97 mini, Nokia X6, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and Nokia 5530 and the following non-touch devices: Nokia E72, Nokia E71, Nokia E90, Nokia E63, Nokia E66, Nokia E51, Nokia N96, Nokia N95, Nokia N95 8Gb, Nokia N85, Nokia N82, Nokia N81, Nokia N81 8 Gb, Nokia N79, Nokia N78, Nokia 6220 classic, Nokia 6210 Navigator, Nokia 5320.

For more information on Skype for Symbian, including the latest supported handset list, at http://www.skype.com/go/symbian.

* Skype recommends use of an unlimited data plan to avoid incurring additional charges from operators. Users should also be aware that extra charges may apply if they use Skype over a mobile data connection when abroad.

Download Skype for FREE now on OviStore!

Introducing the luxury version of the N97 Mini, built with 18-carat gold and comes with fashionista apps like “ELLE 360Fashion” so you can stay up to date with latest fashion and spend more money buying clothes to match your shiny gold Nokia N97 Mini.

In my opinion, with the inclusion of fashion apps, Nokia is trying to target this to the female community. What say you?

The gold edition has the same features and specs like the ordinary one: 3.2inch touchscreen display with 360 x 640 pixels, full QWERTY keyboard, WiFi, 3.5G, GPS, Nokia Ovi Maps, 3.5mm headphone jack, 8GB internal memory, and a 5MP camera with autofocus and LED flash.

It’s gonna be priced at about 2,499 Poland Zloty.. which is about 2882 Malaysian Ringgit and will be made available in the next quarter.

One of the growing location based social network service, Foursquare, has been implemented in a Symbian app to allow users to check-in on their locations and share them with friends.

As some of you may know, Foursquare is currently not natively supported on Symbian platform yet, but thanks to Waze, we can now easily report out locations with just a few taps!

All you need to do is download Waze onto your Symbian device (touch/non touch)

Once the GPS signal is locked, click on the “Report” button and scroll down to reveal the Foursquare option.

First time users will be asked to login.

Once logged in, a list of nearby locations will be displayed. Just tap on any of them and you are done!

This is the confirmation screen once u have checked in.

Note: GPS locking is quite slow (was trying this with the Nokia 5800), no options to view badges or friends’ locations… but hey you get to check in without the need to go to m.foursquare.com on your browser! aha

Point your phone browser to http://m.waze.com/ now to download WAZE.

So the most talked about game recently has just been made available on the Ovi Store and most of us were actually quite excited about this game. Here’s a brief intro on the game and some of my opinions.

It’s basically a top down style racing game with a twist. It lets you to race on a track selected by you, either using the predefined ones or your own location by utilsing the GPS to find out where you are and the roads around you.

Once you are in, you will have to select online mode or offline. Pick the first one if you want to use your current location as a racing track.

In offline mode, you can select a country of your choice, select the starting point from the “animated” map and then start off the race.

When I first saw this I was not amazed, as I was expecting to see the real Nokia Ovi maps (thinking that it should be integrated with each other) but all we get is just a simply block and path kinda maps with dots.

The gameplay is very simple. No acceleration. No braking. All you can do is just steer left or right by tapping the icons on both sides of the screen. I like how the little car drifts though haha but expect a lot of oversteer and slides…. and do you notice how pixelated the graphic is? I dont understand why is the game so “basic” but anyways its a free game so we cannot complain much.

Check out the video I recorded below.
