Woot! Seems like we have another upcoming C series device!

According to Engadget, the upcoming Nokia C6 is a 5230 lookalike with slide out full qwerty keyboard.

In my opinion, apart from the 3 buttons at the bottom of the screen and the bezeled frame, it looks kinda nice. I like it cos it has a 4 rows keyboard instead of 3 rows like the N97.

The Nokia C6 should be of a lower range than the N97 mini as it doesnt have the big hard disk space like the N97.

More news to come! Stay tuned!

Nokia has just unveiled a new series in its line of devices, the C Series. Along with the X and E series, the new line is more catered to the mass market, providing them smartphone features in a feature phone body.

The first device in this new series is the Nokia C5, comes with S60 3rd edition with OVI messenger pre-installed that allows users to connect to IM services like Windows Live Messenger and Gtalk.

It has a bright 2.2inch display and a 3.2megapixel camera. The C5 also comes with free walk and drive navigation courtesy of Ovi Maps. Social networking features for the C5, one of which is Facebook integration where the handset’s phonebook will display your contacts’ status updates. Good stuff!

The C5 is very slim, measuring at about 12mm thin and 46mm across (and 112mm high). Battery life is good for up to 12 hours talktime and it’ll stay on standby for 26 days between charges.

There will be 2 colour variations for the device, White & Warm Grey. It will be made available in the second quarter of 2010 globally in Europe, Eurasia, SEAP, China and MEA. Price would be around 135 Euro, which translates to about RM621 before tax.

Got loads of money but don’t know how to spend them? Fret not!

Nokia has just announced a product that you might wanna purchase and lighten up your wallet.

Introducing the luxury version of the N97 Mini, built with 18-carat gold and comes with fashionista apps like “ELLE 360Fashion” so you can stay up to date with latest fashion and spend more money buying clothes to match your shiny gold Nokia N97 Mini.

In my opinion, with the inclusion of fashion apps, Nokia is trying to target this to the female community. What say you?

The gold edition has the same features and specs like the ordinary one: 3.2inch touchscreen display with 360 x 640 pixels, full QWERTY keyboard, WiFi, 3.5G, GPS, Nokia Ovi Maps, 3.5mm headphone jack, 8GB internal memory, and a 5MP camera with autofocus and LED flash.

It’s gonna be priced at about 2,499 Poland Zloty.. which is about 2882 Malaysian Ringgit and will be made available in the next quarter.

Another Symbian slide phone? Yes.

This time around Nokia launches a slew of colours for the new Nokia 6700 Slide to match your everyday mood. There are six stunning colours to choose from are aluminium, pink, petrol-blue, red, lime and purple… (somehow this reminds me of the iPod Nano).

The 6700 Slide has a 2.2″ screen and a full aluminium frame.

This device is an imaging monster too, spotting a five megapixel camera, Carl Zeiss optics, dual LED flash and a dedicated camera button, this is like an Nseries already! Not forgetting the capability to edit photos and upload them to social networks on the go.

The Nokia 6700 slide also excels in the music aspect, as it comes with an FM Radio, 12 days standby time, 4 hours of talktime and 29 hours of music playback via headphones!

The device will be expected to be available in the first quarter of 2010, the 6700 is estimated to retail for €160 before taxes and subsidies.

Check out the promo video of the Nokia 6700 Slide below.

Which colour are you? :D

Seems like Nokia realised that many users are not clear on the direction and the app availability for email, social network and messaging on Nokia devices.

That’s why the company launches a new portal that features all the messaging options and ambitions.

The portal is divided into 3 main sections: Email, Instant Messaging and Social Networking.

Each section tells users what they can do on their phone in messaging and how it helps them to communicate better.

Once the user has selected the device, the graphic changes to match messaging options for the selected model.

Here’s a video overview of Nokia Messaging.

This is gonna be one very sad news from Nokia. According to them in the latest N-gage blog post, Nokia will be shutting down the N-gage gaming service under the OVI umbrella by 2010 and they will ‘no longer publish new games for the N-Gage platform’. That doesn’t mean the end of the gaming segment for Nokia because according to the same blogpost, the games will be provided via its Ovi Store service instead.

Some important notes on this:

  • Nokia will no longer publish new games via the N-Gage service. Instead games will be made available via the Ovi Store.
  • N-Gage games can be purchased until September 2010. Other parts of the N-Gage service, including N-Gage Arena, will be availale throughout 2010.
  • The N-Gage application will continue to ship on some older devices. However new devices will not ship with the N-Gage application.
  • All current N-Gage will continue to work. The online (Arena) elements will continue to work throughout 2010. However, subsequently, the online elements of N-Gage games will no longer work.
  • Nokia’s future gaming strategy will be based on Ovi Store distribution.

Looking back at some games I really loved playing on the N-gage…

Dance Fabulous

Age of Empires 3

Metal Gear Solid

… and many more.

Thanks Nokia for bringing us a revolutionary gaming service since 2003 and hope the OVI Store will create a new wave in the industry.

Right out of the oven! Nokia just announced 2 new music devices modeled X6 and X3 at the current Nokia World 09 event at Stuttgart, Germany.

Nokia X6

It’s a whole new design for their music line and the X6 is the slimmest touchscreen device Nokia every produced at only 14mm thin! The X6 also packs with 32GB of internal memory, 3.2inches touchscreen and 35 hours of music playback.

The X6 is also a Comes With Music device. That means you can get music into your device right out of the box without the need to purchase anything extra. The 3.2inch touchscreen is suitable for viewing photos videos and the new contacts bar on the homescreen allows users to pack in 20 favourite contacts for easy access.

What other exciting stuff are there in the X6? 16 days standby time, a 5-megapixel camera and Carl Zeiss optics, dual LED flash, TV-out, video editing, online sharing, Nokia Music store, full web browser and Flash Lite support, A-GPS, Ovi Maps and Playlist DJ.

Gaming? YES! Spore is included, along with DJ Mix Tour and Asphalt4. The Nokia X6 will be available in the 4th quarter of 2009 and will be priced at about 459 Euro before tax and subsidies.

Nokia X3

The other Xseries device catered for a casual level of users is the X3. Unlike the X6, it runs on the usual Nokia S40 OS and it is the first S40 device with Ovi Store enabled.

The X3 comes with a 3.2megapixel camera, 2.2inch screen, stereo speakers and supports up to 16GB of memory via MicroSD card. It also comes with Bluetooth 2.1 for wireless music headsets and 3.5mm headphone jacks if you want to use your beloved music earphones.

I am kinda speechless when I see things like this. On one side, people who were trying the N900 carelessly uploaded photos to flickr and twitpic. On the other side, there are people who can actually find out these photos even though the photo exifs does not state N900.

Apparently Mark from TheNokiaBlog has used this Flickr search trick to find unreleased photo samples of pre-release Nokia phones on the net. This time around, he tried to search for N900 but did not find anything. All he found was photos taken by devices labeled “007 001″.

This photo was located in the N900 folder and the photo exif says that it was taken using a device labeled “007 001″

@chansearrington posted this photo on Twitpic with a caption “test”. He also explained that it was shot with an N900 but wasn’t the final hardware or firmware.

More photos.

Note that these photos are taken using early pre-production firmware. The photo quality may improve in months to come.

Best device EVAR!!!!!!! (well to me at least.. lol) Nokia has just announced their new powerhouse device, the Nokia N900. It’s a mobile computer(with phone functionality) that is powered by Maemo5 Operating system. Maemo5 is the evolution of the OS in Nokia’s internet tablets like N800 and N810.

The N900 spots a horizontal slider that reveals a full QWERTY keyboard (like the N97), a 3.5inch WVGA screen (800×480) resistive touch screen, ARM Cortex-A8 600 MHz processor with 1GB of application memory (256 MB RAM, 768 MB virtual memory), OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics acceleration, 5megapixel Carl Zeiss optics camera, Wifi, aGPS, 3.5mm headphone jack (TV Out too), 32gb of internal memory and supports microSD card expansion.

One thing I really really like about the N900 is the browser. It’s the new Fennec browser powered by Mozilla technology, supports Adobe Flash 9.4 and AJAX. Other features are like customisable ‘panorama’ desktop and multi-window task switcher. Users can now create multiple homescreens for everything! Probably one for music, one for widgets, one for favourite contacts etc. Task switcher allows user to view all open apps in a glace to see everything running in them Live.

Other features:
# Unified communications and address book: voice calls, internet calls, instant messages and SMS. Includes the ability to merge phonebook, Skype contacts and other contacts into a single address book.
# Ability to share status, location with friends, keep multiple IM and SMS converstions going and move between them.
# Nokia Messaging pre-installed, mobilise up to 10 personal email accounts. Includes quasi-push email and rich HTML support.
# Video playback mp4, .avi, .wmv, .3gp; codecs: H.264, MPEG-4, Xvid, WMV, H.263: up to WVGA (800 x 480) at 25 frames per second; WMV: VGA resolution at 30 frames per second; Dual LED Flash.
# Video streaming in the browser.
# Music playback formats include MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, M4A, WAV, WMA.

The N900 will be available in selected markets from October 2009 onwards at a cost of €500 before taxes and subsidies. More info on http://maemo.nokia.com

What’s the buzz around these days?

It has to be none other than the new 5800 upcoming firmware update.

It is believed that the update will add kinetic scrolling, widgets and enhanced homescreen similar to the recently announced Nokia 5530 XPM.

It should look like this if I’m not mistaken, 5530 homescreen + 5800.

As much as we are excited about the kinetic scrolling feature, it only works partially. The homescreen (contacts bar), contact list and the web browser. Well, better than none at all, right? :D

Other updates that comes with the firmware are improved response time and camera performance. The new firmware is expected to be out soon after the launch of the 5530 XPM. So be patient and wait for it yo!

Just in case if you are unaware of the kinetic scrolling and the new homescreen (with contacts bar) of the 5530 XPM, check out these video below.
